Buena Vista Bike Fest Race/Ride Details & Itinerary

News & Info 2 Comments

Hello everybody, welcome to the 12th Annual Buena Vista Bike Fest weekend that you all have been training so diligently for!  here is the itinerary for the weekend regarding the big race/ride!  We have two SAG Crew folks coming along (thank you) to help us during the ride, along with other folks from around the country. They will be driving around in cars with big YL magnets on them with any needed support and gear just like the Tour De France. Be sure to bring your current fundraising money with you and Jason and I will review online donations as well and thank you for your efforts. Remember if you are not at your goal yet, you can keep fundraising after the race as I will be doing. Young Life thanks you for your generosity and support. Make sure to get plenty of rest this week and eat and hydrate properly, for nutrition is key for an event like this. Also, please note the elevation gain, for that can play a factor in things. It is never fun to bonk and I want ya’ll to have an awesome experience this weekend. Please bring appropriate clothing as well, for you can expect various kinds of weather here in the Colorado mountains. It is calling for a high near 60 at lower elevations and a possibility of rain and probably around 38 degrees in the morning. You have been looking great on our training rides and this should be glorious!

Hello Everybody, the weather looks like it is going to me much friendlier to us than originally forecasted, with a high near 55 degrees and some sun.  We will be leaving Steamer’s Coffee shop at 9 am this lovely Saturday morning, the seventeenth of April, 2010.  I enjoyed our ride to Lyons so much last week that we are going to do it again!  The ride is approximately 80 miles and we will be stopping at Amante Coffee Shop in Boulder on the way there and the way back.  This should allow us to ride as a team and get fueled-up as needed.  Bring Layers, plenty of food and water, and your bike and we’ll see you there!

Training Ride 07

News & Info, Tips & Training No Comments

Hello Everybody! Due to the unfavorable weather over the past couple of days, we will be riding this Sunday afternoon! Church-goers, do not be alarmed, we have you covered, thus we will be leaving Steamer’s Coffee Shop around 1 pm. We are looking for a high near sixty and sunny, perfect riding weather. Amazing, snow one day and uber-warm the next, you gotta love Colorado!

We are deviating slightly from our normal route with some suggestions from our beloved team. We are riding to Amante Coffee in Boulder, so bring some cash if you need a beverage or snack, so you don’t bonk on the way back. From there, we will be heading back and doing a loop toward Interlocken, thus bypassing the McCaslin Wall this week, which I know will make some riders very happy. Please reference the course map below. The distance is 50 miles, and approximate ride time should be 3-4 hours and we look forward to seeing everybody there!
